How To Purchase |
Purchasing a custom skating dress or costume from
Figure Skatewear®
is easy, but you must carefully follow the ordering process
outlined below.
Please note: Custom figure
skating dresses and costumes may not be purchased using our
online Paypal system. A signed contract and credit card info
is required to process an order for a custom dress.
CUSTOM FIGURE SKATEWEAR® NEW
CUSTOM DRESS:
To schedule a custom dress it is advised that you contact
Figure Skatewear® either by
email or phone to
check the current schedule. There are times during the year
when there can be a four to six month lead time and there
are other times when I have openings right away. If you know
you will need a dress in the near future it is best to get
on the schedule as soon as you can.
Once the schedule is decided please proceed with the
following steps to process your custom order:
-
A design registration form must be filled out
completely and the design fee must be paid before any
work will commence.
All payments for the design fee
and the custom dress must be made by credit card only!
Checks, money orders and Paypal are not accepted for
this agreement.
Current design fee for US dresses is $250 in US
dollars.
International design fee is $350 in US dollars.
Design fee registrations expire after 1 year.
-
Once the design fee is paid we will discuss the
style, color, and overall feel of the costume. At this
point I will also need the music, a photo of the skater,
and if possible a DVD or video of the current level of
performance.
- The design phase - Measurements can be done over the
phone with my help, or a design appointment can be
scheduled. If a design appointment is scheduled, I
design the dress, show fabric swatches, and take
measurements all in the same day. Please allow a window
of time up to 3 hours for this type of appointment.
Note: The design fee must be paid before a design
appointment can be scheduled.
If we are working
through the mail with the design process, I will send
out swatches and custom color dye samples if necessary.
After the preliminary designs are completed I will
fax them to you for review. If you do not have a fax
machine, I will email the designs to you in Adobe PDF
format.
- Once the design is finalized, an estimate is
prepared and sent to you for your approval and a
signature. If the estimate is approved, a deposit equal
to ____% of the total price is required before materials
are ordered and production of the dress can begin.
- Once the deposit is received, materials are ordered
and the dress is sewn up as designed minus any beading.
This first step is to fit the dress for size and fit. To
accomplish this fitting, a fitting appointment can be
made with me here at
Figure Skatewear or the dress can be shipped
to you for fitting. Please note that if the dress is
shipped to you, there is a time limit for turn-around or
additional charges may apply. This time limit is
determined by the distance that the dress must be
shipped.
If a
fitting appointment is scheduled, this is a one-time
appointment. My method of fitting dresses works very
well and will be accomplished in one appointment. Please
allow up to 4 hours for your fitting appointment
however, many fittings can be accomplished in as little
as 1.5 hours.
- Once the dress is approved for fit, beading and
detailing will be done. 3 - 5 days before the dress is
completed, a final charge will be run. (Note: exact stone charges and labor are
sometimes hard to estimate on dresses and the final
price may be slightly higher than the original
estimate.) Final payment will be required
before the dress is shipped to you.
All dresses are shipped FedEx and any dresses shipped
back to me for either fitting or repair must also be shipped
FedEx.
